Today, Hedera unveiled a strategic rebrand that consolidates its major entities under a unified brand architecture, streamlining how developers, institutions, and partners engage with the network.

What’s New?
The HBAR Foundation has reintroduced itself as Hedera Foundation, now led by Charles Adkins, formerly of Aptos and Polygon Labs. Simultaneously, the Hedera Governing Council will now operate as the ‘Hedera Council’, with Tom Sylvester stepping in as President and Mance Harmon, Hedera’s co-founder, taking on a two-year term as Chair beginning July 1.
Together, these changes represent more than a facelift—they reflect Hedera’s maturing ecosystem, its increasing institutional relevance, and its commitment to transparency and clarity for all participants.
“This evolution aligns all parts of the Hedera ecosystem under a shared identity, while giving each entity the space and structure to fulfill its mission.”
Charles Adkins, CEO of Hedera Foundation
What the Hedera Foundation Will Do
The Hedera Foundation will remain an independent entity, zeroing in on innovation and adoption. Under Adkins’ leadership, the Foundation will drive ecosystem growth in:
Decentralized finance (DeFi)
Artificial intelligence (AI)
Tokenization and real-world assets
Digital identity
Its mission is to empower builders, businesses, and communities to scale meaningful applications on the Hedera network. A new website, hedera.foundation, is now live with grants, partnerships, and builder resources.
What the Hedera Council Will Do
Meanwhile, the Hedera Council continues as the formal governance body of the network. With a focus on security, transparency, and long-term growth, the Council will steer the network’s technical direction and strategic evolution.
“Our role is to ensure Hedera’s resilience and trustworthiness as it grows into a foundational layer for the digital economy.”
Tom Sylvester, New President
A Visual and Strategic Refresh
With new logos and branding, both the Foundation and Council now reflect the layered architecture of Hedera itself:
The Hedera Network: An open-source, carbon-negative public ledger powered by hashgraph technology
The Hedera Foundation: A driver of adoption through funding and developer engagement
The Hedera Council: The engine of governance and strategic oversight
Each plays a distinct role in delivering Hedera’s promise: a faster, fairer, and more trustworthy digital world.
“Hedera is more than a blockchain—it’s a trust layer. And that means clarity, transparency, and coordination matter more than ever.”
Mance Harmon, Co-Founder and incoming Chair of the Hedera Council
Why It Matters
With Web3 adoption expanding across finance, AI, sustainability, and enterprise, Hedera is sharpening its structure at a critical time. Today’s rebrand is a signal to developers, institutions, and users that Hedera is not only open for business—it’s built for scale, guided by principle, and ready for the next phase of global growth.
